Resumen

Remittances constitute a vital component of Mexico's economic landscape, exerting considerable influence on household incomes, consumption patterns, and overall socio-economic development. On the other hand, the evidence indicates that government spending on social policies has an inverse effect in some states where remittances are the main component of household income. Furthermore, these households have the lowest level of education per capita, and food and entertainment are the main component of household spending.  We introduce a model that achieve institutional differences between states and the household spending, we show that under certain conditions of government spending, remittances are a poverty trap in some states of the country.
